On Sunday July 10, the Ottawa Fury Girls U-15 team battled to a 1-1 draw against the current number one team in the New England division.  Throughout the first half both teams controlled the ball well, hunting for scoring opportunities and testing the strengths of the defenders.  The Lady Knights were first to score very near the end of the first half.  The Fury scored early in the second half on a well executed play in the heavy traffic in front of the Lady Knights net.  Midfielder Kat Macias passed to striker Haley Giles who added to her many goals for the Fury.  The Lady Knights were not able to score again as the Fury defence stopped most attacks and Fury goalie Charlotte Foody made several dramatic saves similar to those made by Hope Solo later on Sunday in the World Cup match against Brazil.

In a closely fought match, the Ottawa Fury Girls U-15 team lost by one goal to MPS Portland Phoenix of Maine. The Fury were first to score when striker Haley Giles beat two Portland defenders, then waited until the Portland goalie committed herself and drilled the ball into the back of the net. The Fury defence and goalie Charlotte Foody blocked several attempts but Portland eventually scored on two corner kicks earning a victory. The Fury maintain one of the lowest goals against records in their division.

According to the Chinese calendar 2010 is deemed 'the year of the tiger', but after the year that the Ottawa Fury had 2010 truly was 'the year of the Fury'. From successes on the international scene with teams in France and England to youth players signing professional contacts to the W-League and PDL teams run in the playoffs it was an exciting season for the Fury. 2010 was capped of by the U17 capturing the Super Y-League North American Championship and the Fury Youth Program being ranked #2 in North America. With John Pugh's recent partnership with OSEG and his efforts to bring a professional soccer team to Ottawa 2011 is sure to be another exciting year for soccer in our Nation's Capital!
