It was a decisive win for the U14 Fury Boys over the MPS Portland Phoenix at the University of Ottawa, Matt Anthony Field. The offence scored a pair of goals in each half resulting in a 4-0 final score. During the first half, most of the play was in the Fury’s offensive end. Portland was not allowed a single shot on goal.  Brett started off the scoring, running around the opposing defenders, and sinking his shot behind the keeper. Nick capitalized shortly after to give us a two goal lead going into the break. Portland had a few chances in the early part of the second with several offensive free kicks but that was all. Thierry netted our third goal and Brett finished off the scoring for our third win of the season.

On a beautiful, sunny and breezy afternoon, the U14 Boys took their second straight win, this time against Nordic Soccer Club from Vermont.  The Fury Boys out-played their rivals in the first half and had numerous chances to score but unable to capitalize.  Chances included a goal called back for being offside and a solid shot firmly against the cross-bar.  With the score 0-0 after the half, the Fury picked up the pace and managed to put two in the net.  James scored on a beautiful cross from Brett and Nick put the game out of reach shortly after.  The defence held their opponents to only 3 shots on goal which where handled easily by Erhan, the keeper, who recorded his third consecutive shut out.  The final score was 2-0 for the Fury Boys.

The U14 Boys collected their first win in the third game of the season, with a convincing 5-0 victory over the MPS Crusaders. The boys played a possession game, limiting their opponents to only three shots on goal. Goals were scored by Sam Lowery, Nick Brunt, Alex Smith and Brett Malovic, who netted two. It was the second consecutive shut-out for the team.

According to the Chinese calendar 2010 is deemed 'the year of the tiger', but after the year that the Ottawa Fury had 2010 truly was 'the year of the Fury'. From successes on the international scene with teams in France and England to youth players signing professional contacts to the W-League and PDL teams run in the playoffs it was an exciting season for the Fury. 2010 was capped of by the U17 capturing the Super Y-League North American Championship and the Fury Youth Program being ranked #2 in North America. With John Pugh's recent partnership with OSEG and his efforts to bring a professional soccer team to Ottawa 2011 is sure to be another exciting year for soccer in our Nation's Capital!

The Ottawa Fury U14 Boys earned their first trip to the Super Y-League Finals with a 7-2-2 season under the very experienced SYL head coach Steve Hill. The Boys 4-0-0 record in the month of June coupled with another undefeated month in July allowed them to remain in contention for an SYL Finals berth right to the finish. Their 8 goals against was the best in the division and the eighth fewest among all of the U14 Boys teams in the SYL. While this is their first trip to Tampa, head coach Steve Hill returns for a 4th straight season and his fifth time overall. With his experience the Boys hope to make the most of their first North American Finals.
